During the COVID-19 pandemic, I noticed a low grade anxiety settle in with clients I saw and in society in general. Although very understandable at the time, it seems this low intensity anxiety still permeates society. I have also noticed an increase in anxiety symptoms in my clients, as well as myself. The movie Inside Out 2 demonstrated beautifully how anxiety can overcome all other emotions to be permanently in the driver’s seat to the determent of the individual. Based on this, it is prudent than to dedicate a few blog posts to measures that can alleviate anxiety.


Lavender according to aromatherapy transmits messages to the limbic system (a region in the brain known to influence the nervous system and help regulate emotion). Breathing in the scent of lavender or lavender essential or applying is so the skin can hence have a calming effect on a person’s anxiety.
